The International Ballet Competition Slavenska Prix

The International Ballet Competition Slavenska Prix was founded in 2006 as a biennial ballet competition named after our celebrated prima ballerina Mia Čorak Slavenska. For the first two years, the competition was only for Croatian dancers, but since 2010, the competition has become international and is held at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, which is our partner and provides us with all logistical and technical assistance.

The jury of the competition includes prominent international ballet artists: Irek Mukhamedov, Faruk Ruzimatov, Attilio Labisse, Lydia Mila Milovac, Ljubinka Dobrijević, Dr. Simona NojaNebyla, Dr. Szilard Macher, Alin Gheorgiu, Joseph Morrissey, Pal Czillag, Anastasia Matvienko, Ronald Savković, Pavel Rotaru, etc.

The competition has two soloist categories: JUNIORS (up to 19 years old) and SENIORS (from 19 to 28 years old). This year we plan to introduce a new category for schools and ballet studios: GROUPS, namely SMALL (2 to 4 dancers), MEDIUM (5 to 10 dancers) and LARGE (11 to 20 dancers).

This year the preliminary schedule is as follows:

03.07.2026 GROUPS (rehearsal, competition and award ceremony) – HNK 2

04.07.2026 SOLO: JUNIORS and SENIORS (rehearsal) – HNK 2
